Extra Time is a new project developed by far° with the aim of supporting, extending and stimulating artistic endeavours in the Swiss contemporary arts scene. Participants in this programme come as much from the performing arts scene as from other creative fields. Their work and vision have brought them closer to living arts and far° sees them as having the potential to bring a new perspective and approach to the stage. Extra Time offers artistic assistance in order to produce original works, to further develop a pre-existing short play, or even to engage in a new project. The aim is to give them an opportunity to define and test their hypotheses and to then share them with the audience during the festival. Before that, a performing arts specialist monitors each artist over several months, providing a theoretical framework and a critical outside perspective as well as practical tools. This year, Éric Vautrin monitored Milena Keller & Valerie Keller, Andrea Marioni and Loan Nguyen during their creative process. For its part, the far° team provides mentoring support, assists with the production (fundraising support, looking for performers, etc.), and helps find venues and residency programmes. Offering genuine support to contemporary artists, Extra Time gives emerging artists the opportunity to meet the audience, to network and gain greater exposure, thanks to the presence of many Swiss and international programmers during the far° festival.
